September 6th 2018

Netflix has released the official trailer to Quincy, the documentary on the legendary Quincy Jones, ahead of the film's TIFF premiere.

His daughter, actress, writer and producer Rashida Jones co-directed this with Alan Hicks.

The official description: Beyond his own acclaim as a trumpeter, producer, conductor, composer and arranger, Quincy Jones’ inimitable gift to discover the biggest talents of the past half of the century is unprecedented. He has shaped the pop culture landscape for 70 years, mentoring and cultivating the careers of young talents, from Lesley Gore and Michael Jackson to Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith. Directed by Rashida Jones and Alan Hicks), Quincy seamlessly threads personal vérité moments with private archival footage to reveal a legendary life like no other.

Over the course of his career, Jones has won 27 Grammys, making him the second-most winningest person in Grammy history. He has also won an Emmy for his score for the opening episode of Roots, co-produced The Color Purple and has also been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. His work on Michael Jackson's first solo albums remains legendary, with Thriller still reigning as the highest selling album ever.
