Pictured below is 19 year old Kenyan Katanu Kay who has gained recognition and has taken Instagram by storm through her lovely paintings as well as the art world. Immensely talented Katanu uses the name @mellow-bones on Instagram and which she uses as a tool to market and sell her artwork which is selling rapidly. What makes her art different and with depth and perspective is that she uses the Kitenge/Chitenge (Afrikan textiles/fabric) in her paintings as well as other Afrikan traditional fabrics.

Her father who is also a painter is helping her nurture her gift, pictured below are some of her works. Shaking up the art world with her striking paintings have gained her entry into various art exhibitions in Nairobi. Other galleries outside of Afrika have shown great interest and have shown a various range of her work also.
