    Ẹnikẹ́ni tí kò bá mọ̀tàn tán lẹlẹ́tàn á máa tàn jẹ
    Anyone who doesn’t know history completely is deceived by the deceiver
    Ta ní kò mọ̀bátan Baba Ìtàn; Òpìtàn t’ó mọ̀tàn tán?
    Who doesn’t know the relative of The Father of History; The historian who knew history to completion?
    Afọ́jú t’ó lajú t’ó sì ṣáájú àwọn olójú
    The blind one whose eyes were open who also stay ahead of those with sight
    Bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni ó ran àwọn ìrandíran mìíràn lọ́wọ́ láti ríran
    Who by the same token, helped other generations to see sights
    Ìbátan Baba Ìtàn; Òpìtàn t’ó mọ̀tàn tán
    The relative of The Father of History; The historian who knew history to completion
    Ọlọ́lá ńlá t’ó mọ̀nà àtìgbanilà
    The grand owner of honor who knew how to save people
    Atọ́nà t’ó lànà fún wa látàná
    The guide who opened the way since back in the day
    T’ó tanná bíi ìtànṣan onítànmọ́lẹ̀ kítàn náà lè máa tàn kálẹ̀
    Who shined the light like sunrays that light the earth so that that history could spread throughout the world
    Òǹkọ̀wé t’ó mú kí ilé ìkàwé kún fún ìwé
    The author who made the libraries overflow with books
    Ìbátan Baba Ìtàn; Òpìtàn t’ó mọ̀tàn tán
    The relative of The Father of History; The historian who knew history to completion
    Baba o mọ àná kí àwa náà lè mọ ọ̀la
    Father, you knew yesterday so that we too could know tomorrow
    Àṣé, “òwúrọ̀ ni yóò fi hàn bí alẹ́ yóò ti rí”
    For, “morning is what foretells how night will be”
    Orísun Ìṣọ̀kan l’à bí i sí
    Union Springs is where he was born
    Òkun Ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé-tara-ẹni ni wọ́n jáláìsí sí
    The ocean of self-reliance is where he passed on
    Àmọ́, a ń kì í, a ń sà á o ṣáà ní o ò mẹni t’á ń sọ̀rọ̀ yìí!
    However, we’re praising him, we’re showering him with accolades, and yet still you say you don’t know who we’re talking about!
    Háà! Baba Kíláàkì, ìwọ l’à á ń ké sí!
    Haa! Baba Clarke, you are the one we’re calling out to!

    The owner of brains who had sense to spare
    T’ó fimú fínlẹ̀ fún ìmọ̀ ìjìnlẹ̀ láti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ ìpilẹ̀ láti ìpínlẹ̀ dé ìpínlẹ̀
    Who tirelessly researched deep knowledge from the beginning of time from one region to the next
    Alákọsílẹ̀ o, alátẹnudẹ́nu o, kò sóhun tí ò kọ́
    Whether that which was written by scribes or that which was passed on orally, there was nothing that he didn’t learn
