Black skinned people in Kansas City are not proud to be black(I said what I said)
The black population in the city I live in and was born and raised is very anti-black, anti-Afrikan. Yet, go figure gotta whole football team co-opting Afrikan culture(I’m sure you know the name of the team here)as well as other ways Afrikan and indigenous cultures are always used for a multitude of things too long to mention here.
In this city, if you do find black people with black awareness of any kind, typically they are not from here. Case in point, a young man who lives in my parent’s neighborhood helps my dad out with moving things when my siblings and I are not able to do so.
He asked my parents if they have ever heard of Emmett Till. When my parents mentioned to me that he asked them this question, I knew immediately he wasn’t from Kansas City and guess what? He most certainly wasn’t. He was from Mississippi. Not to say that Mississippi or any other state in the United SnaKKKes does not have their share of these kinds of black people who work to serve our enemies.
However, in my honest opinion, Kansas City has more than just a small case of honkytonkitis(addicted to white as coined by Obenfo Jerome E. Fox )amongst the negro folk ’round dese heah parts. Take for instance the incident that took place in Alabama a few weeks ago where craKKKas got a royal *bleep* whoopin’ from some Kmtyw brothas. Had that been here in KC(Missouri), the black people would’ve been like, “leave that security guard alone he’s just doin’ his job!”
If you’ve never been here before you have to see it up close and personal to get the full meaning of what I am really trying to say. Even more than a few of my own family members who I care about are very pro white. Needless to say, I’m the black sheep of the family(pun intended).
Agree. I grew up in KCMO. From 9-12th grade, went to MIZZOU (after begging to go to FAMU but…). Anyway, I had a typing teacher who wore African clothes, an English teacher pro Black history and mainly used Black writers…but for sure, lots of folks not woke there…it’s changing a little bit. At MIZZOU I took a AA Studies course and Destruction of Black Civilization (C. Williams) was required – this is the book that changed my life. I guess it all depends, which is scary. We can’t leave building and nurturing our consciousness and heritage knowledge to our enemies.
I’m just now seeing your reply. Yes, there are a few who are Afrikan conscious here, but the overwhelming majority are not. They love and cape for Y T. Thank you for your reply. My apologies for not commenting sooner, I didn’t see any notifications that I had a reply. Btw, where do you live now?
Exactly. The 18th and Vine Jazz District, The Black Panthers, Negro League Baseball, just to name a few.
That’s surprising seeing the history of us there.
