About the Speaker π€
Juliet, aka Nyancho Kujabi, is the founder of Blaxit and COAD. She was raised in the UK during the 1970s, at the height of racism. Juliet became an activist, publicly campaigning for social and reparatory justice.
She is a staunch advocate of Pan-Africanism. She studied African Studies in the community, and Business and Law at university, as well as Law at college. A writer and poet from the tender age of nine, she performed with the late Benjamin Zephaniah, who recognized her talent.
Juliet worked across the private sector, voluntary sector, and public sector as a civil servant. She received accolades and awards as a visionary and contributor to the community, and as a social entrepreneur with her flagship Homeless Programme.
Juliet has travelled to 30 countries and plans to visit more. She has appeared in media across the UK, US, and Gambia, and is active on social media as a vocal Garveyite and repatriationist. She is a self-appointed stateswoman, calling for African descendants of forced enslavement and genocide to receive African citizenship across the continentβespecially in her country of residence, The Gambiaβto return to its former practice of issuing citizenship to displaced Africans born in the diaspora who wish to repatriate.
Juliet met with the President of The Gambia and Members of Parliament, and she remains hopeful for change. Her first visit in 2011 sparked an idea that later transformed into Blaxitβyour exit from the West, back to the best: Africa.
Blaxit’s network and volume of work are recognised globally, with many people coining and using the registered name BLAXIT. Julietβs famous mantra has grown into a slogan for freedom: βThe only way to eradicate racism is to leave it behind and go live with your own kind.β
