The Story of Abibitumi – 20th Year Anniversary
Abibitumi at 20: A Retrospective with Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Kambon
20 Years of Kemet for the Kemetyu
For 20 years, Abibitumi has been building consciousness, building community, and building Kmt. What began as a vision for Black education, language restoration, cultural grounding, and Abibifahodie ‘Black Liberation’ has grown into a global movement connecting Abibifoɔ across the world.
The ABIBITUMI 20th Anniversary Series celebrates two decades of work rooted in resistance, repatriation, retribution, and reclamation. From language instruction and cultural education to media, publishing, film, conferences, and community-building, Abibitumi has consistently created spaces where Black people can study, organize, build, and restore ourselves on our own terms.
Taking place from 11th–14th June 2026, the anniversary series features four days of powerful programming: The Story of Abibitumi, the Abibitumi Film Club Launch, the Abibitumi Conference & Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026 Launch, and Ɔbenfo’s Book Launch for The Construction of Black Civilization, Volume I.
This is more than a celebration of the past. It is a declaration of continuity. Twenty years in, Abibitumi remains committed to the work of restoring Black consciousness, Black community, and Black Power for the Kemetyu.
