The Nomads of Somalia have carried through their culture and way of living for generations. They have experienced great hardships and adversity through the years and have managed to stay fiercely dignified. The nomads of colonial times did not bow to the colonisers who held a strict inferiority complex, they united and fought to expel those who did not belong from their lands. They include the Dervishes, the Ajuurans, the Geledis, the SYL (Somali Youth League), the WSLF (Western Somali Liberation Front) and the ONLF (Ogaden National Liberation Front). As long as the Somali people are oppressed and marginalised, the people can always count on the nomads to come to their defence of their people wherever they may be.
