Is Capoeira also a grappling art?

Yes, my old studio taught Capoeira and Jiujitsu, and it was fun to be able to see how you can easily transition to grappling from various positions. Not so easy of a transition if you’re a Muay Thai fighter.

Great point about MT. I agree. A strictly stand up art will not assimilate grappling technique as easily as one that already has this as a key element. Capoeira already has a grappling repertoire that, Bro. Da’Mon is arguing, is insufficiently understood or appreciated. If you really dig into this body of technical knowledge, there really is a great deal there, which, when paired with the art’s striking (especially elbows, knees, and headbutts) can be prove quite effective.
