      I CREATE MYSELF

I bring to form the energy I am, the thoughts I imagined, the worlds I dreamed . The bones of my head burst into flame. I shoot fiery arrows into night’s darkness and they are like falling stars, messages of light. I live according to what I know and love, the healing of words , the healing of herbs, the stealing of kisses, the pleasures and duties of divine beings.

I live in the eye of the lady of flame . I am light reflected by Hathor’s mirror. The words of goddesses are bright and shining in my mouth. I create myself. I am the gods’ secret. I have seen the great fire of perhaps, the beacon of possibility. I wake in the liquid light of a vision.

Oh spirits that guide divine engry through the dark halls at death, guide me safely in life, past sorrow and depression, steer me from fear and anger and hopelessness. Let me always know the reason for my becoming. Let me hear what gods hear, see what gods see. When the sun is blotted from the sky, let even a small light shine to steer our divine peoples feet. Let me stand in light, bathe in light, clothe myself in light. Let me sit in the lap of gods and hear words of comfort. Oh offerers of cake and bearers of beer, let me not also starve for love, thirst for wisdom. Let my spirit be stronger today than it was yesterday, my heart more peaceful, my mind more fertile, my hands more gentle. Let gods touch my face. Let me go forth shining. Let my feet know the way. Let me walk and pass through fire. Let wild beasts and thieves by the roadside go on sleeping pleasant dreams. Let me pass undeterred into heaven.

Thanks for sharing this passage. My favorite line is, ‘let me always know the reason for my becoming.’ For our journey on this plane, it is vital to be aware of the purposes and will of our Creator, and cognizant of the process of self-actualization.

Yes I like that line with my limited understanding of the mind from Amos Wilson and my view the so-called spirituality of ancient Africa, I see human transformation. I think they stress what we have forgotten that is, no one people, no one culture, no one spiritual system has all truth. We have to combine different perspectives to see clearly. Like that old proverb about the baobab tree. In my perspective this is the creation they are talking about, the self-created individual from the animalistic form or The reptilian Brain if you want to be scientific. I think we have lost this I hear people claiming that African people created spirituality which is false they observe nature phenomenon that was here before them and will be here after us us.
