600 skips on the jump rope (200 x 3), 40 tricep kickbacks, 40 incline push-ups, 60 arm+leg hyperextensions laying on belly (last 20 weighted), 1 minute side-lying floor stretches right and left sides, 40 weighted side arm raises, 12 inchworms, 40 reclined rhomboid squeezes, 40 supine push-ups. Get it in, get it in!!!

@kevlew, sorry to hear that. I guess that’s the 49-year-old version of gettin’ it in…

Oh, and 3 back bridges held for 10 seconds each. My son, Kwaku, is also on his regimen. He found the back bridges to be hilarious. He’s also coming along with his jump rope skills and everything else. His huge belly (he loves to eat) is coming down and it’s great for father-son bonding time. @kevlew, it may be time to break out the Yoga mat for some gentle stretching. I’ve used Yoga to recover from a few injuries.

@heru_djet, Kemetic or non-Kemetic? lol
-
LOL!
You know Wudjau has been doing some interesting videos on the notion of “Kemetic Yoga”. Like him, I don’t see any evidence that such a thing existed. This is clearly a modern construct. However, it seems plausible that Yoga existed among the ancient Dravidians. So I think that this continued love affair that many of us are having with Indian culture (chakra, Yoga, etc.) needn’t involve misrepresentation. Just do it and credit it to THOSE Black folks instead.

@heru_djet, any primary (or secondary) texts that go into how well the indo-aryan hindus preserved Dravidian practices? Also, did they do a better job than the roman catholic preservation of Kmt spirituality.
-
I don’t know about that. However, I have been reading about the Dravidian peoples of late, specifically the Tamils, and find that they’ve been very intentional about many of their cultural preservations. Given their concentration in the south, this may have enabled them to not rely on the Aryans for this. My studies have thus far focused on the southern Indian fighting arts, which are generally a product of the Dravidian peoples. I plan to extend these studies into Yoga later this year. I’m specifically interested in how Yoga was integrated into the combative practices of Dravidian peoples.

Wow! You’re learning yoga from Dravidians and Tamils?! Amazing!
-
No, I’ve been studying the “Kemetic Yoga” since I prefer to have some kind of African/Black medium for my study despite these questions pertaining to authenticity. My future study of the Dravidian Yogic practices is related to my desire to understand these practices’ historicity. However, this is more of a future focus. Right now I’m focused on the fighting.

Okay, sorry about the previous jokes about Kemetic Yoga. I didn’t know you were a practitioner.
-
Oh, brother that doesn’t bother me at all. I’m of two minds about this: 1) It is a Yogic system which has some of the health benefits of a Yogic system and 2) it is a modern invention which reflects a fusion of an Indian cultural practice partially based on Kemetic iconography. I’m not reverential about it in any way. Joke on!
