This past year has been eye opening for me with regard to the power of language. In keeping with your statement, “our behavior is directly attributable to who we say we are. Our possibilities are governed by our identities. ” Something that may seem basic, like speaking another language, sets in motion and shapes an entire way of living. Even when the language you speak is different than your brother, one walks away as if they and their brother are now different people.
