      On Race of Ramses II

Anthropohistorian, Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop states:

“Even though the notion of race is very relative, molecular biology has isolated racial markers, which are factors almost exclusively localized in each racial group: the Diego factor among Yellows, the Kell factor among Whites, the Sutter and Gm6 factor among Blacks . . . . So, let nobody tell us that Ramses II was White and reddish-blond . . . the determination of the ethnicity of Rameses II made in Paris is of no scientific value. It is certainly not conclusive. Even today, after radiation has turned the mummy yellow (before the experiment it was black, as I was able to verify), one can still determine the percentage of melanin in the skin, by using the products of melanin degradation, which remain on fossilized animals even after millions of years. Did they even question whether this was really the same mummy that was discovered by Gaston Maspero? Ramses II was a Black. May he rest in peace in his black skin for eternity” (Diop, 1981, p. 67).
