Description

This Saturday’s Abibitumi Seminar Series presents: Reparations? Retribution!

There are numerous discussions going on currently surrounding the HR 40 bill and initiatives aimed at the awarding of reparations for chattel enslavement. In this presentation, Okunini Ọbádélé Kambon asks several pressing questions surrounding the current groundswell of support for such initiatives including that of “How do you repair what is still actively in the process of being destroyed?” Further, “How can our lives be quantified in terms of cash?” Finally, Okunini Ọbádélé Kambon gets to the heart of the matter in terms of should our goal be reparations or or should it be retribution? Reciprocity in the form of restoring Ma’at as our Most Illustrious Ancestors intended. You DON’T want to miss this timely and most important discussion on a subject with far-reaching implications for Kmtyw (Black people) the world over. This presentation has challenged and transformed my take on reparations. Initially, I took the position that anything that was taken from us, or any forms of re-payment, would be based upon our unified power to take it back – and with that, i brushed off reparations as “if it happens… okay, no big deal” however, without our own institutions in place, all moneys would inevitiablly go right back to them. However, this presentation provided clarity that only in blood can what has and is still being done can divine retribution be made. No amount of printed crakkker faces are worthy of payment. I thoroughly appreciate this presentation and the discussion that followed. Abibitumi -> Abibifahodie!

I used to be an avid supporter of reparations but after this detailed presentation, I now truly understand that no matter how many zeros are in the check, there is no price tag on the lives of our slain Brothers, sisters and ancestors. There is a lot of factual and pictorial evidence that shows why retribution should be prioritized over so-called reparations. I highly recommend you watch this.
