the Rebirth of African Civilization is one of the best books I ever read, and I like it better than Destruction of Black Civilization, which is Nana Chancellor Williams’ more famous book.

I need to reread it. It’s been a while. I read Destruction prior to reading rebirth. -
What stands out to me about this book is Nana Williams not only criticism of capitalism, communism, and socialism for Africa but him offering his own solution which he architected as a Sociologist and African historian: cooperative democracy. He wrote this book spending time in Ghana and doing research in Ghanaian indigenous communities. He asked questions about national language, local language and looked at what system would be best for Africans from an indigenous perspective. This is a nation building book, and I haven’t read any other like it that actually offers solutions. Most of the time authors only highlight problems and or offer European “solutions” to African problems.
