Since publishing and writing ✍🏾 my book Melanoid Breastmilk, I have been tons of research on The Rich History of Midwifery, and Grand Midwives in the u.s. – with that in mind: I just completed a Birth Sista/Birth Companion Training – social known as “doula”, which means: noun
a woman who assists women during labor and after childbirth.
a professional who provides support and assistance to individuals or families, especially during a medical or emotional crisis (used in combination): death doulas who offer comfort and companionship to dying patients.
Origin: 1975–80; < Mod Greek: “female servant” also slave. Thus, I am on the hunt for a better word. I am researching our words. Any suggestions or guidance. Thanks 🙏🏾9 Comments-

Mema wo akye. I am back here refrencing these words. Meda w’ase, Asante (I like saying Thank you like this although I know it is redundant) for this – I am incorporating this term and concept into My Melanoid Breastmilk work, in addition to the concepts that I am learning from the Mbôngi Buta! It’s Exciting and I am enjoying it.
