Given a single point, let the child draw as many straight lines as he/she can passing though that point until she/he get tired/bore. Repeat the exercise now with two points and ask the child to draw as many straight lines. Let the child use a pencil and a ruler.
As a gift, go buy a child (preferably wooden) blocks of different shapes, generally called geometric toys.
Please do me a favor and not buy a child dollys and cars and guns and knives and such. Only geometric or musical and imaginary toys.
