Wahenga na Wahenguzi [Kiswahili: Ancestors of Ancestors] Ruben Um Nyobe, Dr. Felix Roland Moumie, Ernest Ouandie, and Castor Osende Afana, revolutionary founders and leaders of the anti-imperialist political party the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC) opposed to French colonialism and continued French control of Cameroon through the French Union c. 6187 – 6199 KC [c. 1946 – 1958 CE], French Community c. 6199 – 6236 KC [c. 1958 – 1995 CE] and Francafrique c. 6236 KC [c. 1995-Present]. All were assassinated by the French army, French intelligence units and neocolonial compradors such as the first President of the Republic of Cameroon Ahmadou Ahidjo c. 6201 – 6223 KC [c. 1960 – 1982 CE].

I’m grateful there’s a platform such as Abibitumi that honours our Ancestors and appreciates their sacrifices for the liberation of the people of cameroon under french rule. Their reputation is often tainted in history classes in cameroon schools as ‘maquisards’ ‘rebels’ etc. The elderly members of the UPC are the only ones fighting to keep their memory and history alive.
