got rid of these poison ‘taste/flavor enhancer cubes’.
the story behind: i was taught to cook the recipy for this tomato stew from my mom and that recepy reqires this artificial way of flavoring. ..well, when i learned to cook this ghanaian-diasporan style stew around 15 years ago i was not so much aware of the ingredients and how harmful and even worse: UNNESSESARY they are inside our bodies.
so just following a habbit i’ve kept cooking the stew, without re-evaluating it’s ingredients – the ingredients i buy on a regular basis – for a long time.
then came the first try to get rid of the ‘flavor enhancer cubes’ and the following thing happned: i had gotten so addicted to these flavor drugs, that i did’nt like the stew withouth a knifetip of that a´tastedrug. kokaine-like taste boosters. ..neither of them should be enjoyed on a regular basis and out of pure boredom.
a long way of about the past year has led me through the methods of
      a) eperimenting with slowly reducing the taste enhancer amounts and
      b) extending my knowledge on the negative aspects of flavor enhancers
to the conclusion that i can change my taste by training both: my tongue and my brain.
i want to work out a thought concept that leeds me to rethinking/-evaluating my daily living habbits in on a constant level, or according to the achievement of new wisdom. yes, looking back i think that it took me too long to get rid of this bad ingredient. next time i’ll be faster, i promise!

          Is that Maggi?

@kalokoh: To be accurate: No. It was a different brand.
But in a broader sence: Yes. Flavor enhancers work the same way and mainly taste the same every food. They don’t enhance anything but put the same dominant taste on everything, while extinguishing (or heavily impacting) the natural flavors.
..does that behaviour remind us of anybody..?!
            ;)

Correct, the packaging looks slightly different from the commonly consumed maggi brand. Flavor enhancers are very popular amongst our people, who by general assumption of their lack of shelf life foods productivity probably have nothing to do with making them. It’s amazing how a people can indulge in a food that they themselves have no clue what constitutes it. lol… I know exactly who it reminds us of.

                  Ampa o! So true!
This re-evaluation on the ingredient has to be done on so many aspects of our lives. Afrikan culture is full of the likes of the flavour enhancers, so let us:
                  IDENTIFY, REPORT and BANISH!
Thanks for your thoughts brothers, appreciate it.

Indeed, the notion of merely caring about our taste buds and neglecting to pay attention to some of the foods we find appealing should really be taking into reconsideration. No problem brother, anytime.
