The simple things in traditional Afrikan life often disguise so much beauty. Afrikan parents would wrap their young child to their back for several benefical reasons: That is to mantain that energetic bond and not have to leave their newborn behind or with another caregiver. To free up ones hands to be able to multitask, by placing their baby on their back, the child would get accustomed to rhythm, pace and the rudimentary movements of walking, hence they would be able to understand how to stand and walk faster. There exists an energetic channel running up the parents spine that influences and therefore feeds the energetic channel traveling down the chest of the baby, the rapport of these channels also aid in the overall development of traditional children (pictured below is a Turkana mother and child).
