In regards to Ceremonial Leadership amongst the Kunama of Eritrea are ancestral Priestesses called the “Andinna”. Under special selection they enter the Andinna Sisterhood. At certain times of the year (harvest) they travel across the land often very difficult paths being ritually welcomed from village to village to perform healings (cure with herbs), divinations and protective dances with swords. Pictured below are Andinna Priestesses, on the left in majesty with a sword and a horned feathered headdress. On the right they are holding a type of wand.
