This is a planned space for teachers of our youth, both in the Academy, school, and homeschool to share what we teach, and how we teach. Although I don’t like writing tons of lesson plans, I know that journalling our plans helps us with achieving our goals. Also, sharing our creative lesson plans with others does two things.
1. It saves the reader of our lessons time. The reader will teach your lesson to students AND THIS free up time to create new teachings/lessons.
2. Our youth can have a chance to experience different African Diaspora views of lesson themes and use of lesson materials.
3. New teachers, teacher interns, and home school caretakers will be encouraged by making use of the share lessons.Something about me:
1. I will share “something about me” in my postings.
2. I have recently (after enlightened studying) changed my chosen African name from Ife Salama to Maji Shujaa. (I don’t know how to change it on this site)
3. I’m living in St. Louis, Mo, in the midwest U.S. I have doing African- Centered teaching of youth for over 25 years.
4. I have a high interest in creating teaching internships to guide others to create African-Centered schools. I believe these teaching internships can start as young has age 10-12 in our community. Personally, I was blessed with the spiritual knowledge that my path was to be that of a teacher at this early age.-

This looks great! Note that Mwalimu is singular and Walimu is plural. Note also that both are ultimately derived from arabic.

I am one of the only teachers at my center (most of whom are black like myself)who tries teaching from an AC framework.
-
My lesson plans are mostly AC, however I am open to give the children more enriching experiences from an AC perspective.

Dr. Samori Kamara @scamara of Kamali Academy has resources in terms of curriculum. The works of Angela Freeman, may be able to supplement books that you use.

Thank you Dr. Kambon. I am familiar with him and hope to connect so that I can get resources and ideas. I did look up Angela Freeman’s books and start out ordering a couple of her titles. She has a very nice selection.

I use a lot of Tom and Muriel Feelings books and Atinuke too even though some are very lengthy so I have to shorten them when I read to the kids. The attention spans!
