• Chad Receives Over 1 Million Cholera Vaccines

The World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF delivered 1.1 million doses of cholera vaccine to the Chadian government on 28 August.

The supply aims to contain the epidemic in the provinces of Sila and Ouaddai, and to prevent new cases. A vaccination campaign will be held from 2–8 September across five health districts in eastern Chad.
Since 13 July, at least 75 people have died from cholera in eastern Chad, according to official figures.

      Context:
      • The eastern provinces are already under pressure from instability and displacement linked to regional conflicts.
      • Analysts note that external assistance often arrives only after outbreaks escalate, underlining both the challenges of preparedness and the reliance on international health agencies.
