South African Post Office Suspends Parcel Services to the US Due to New Regulations
“Given the complex processes required to comply with the new regulation, we have no choice but to temporarily suspend these shipments,” the South African Post Office (SAPO) said in a statement.
👉 This decision follows the Trump administration’s revocation of a “de minimis” exemption that had allowed smaller international packages to enter the US duty-free. Initially, the policy targeted only China, but it was later extended globally.
📮 The suspension affects all parcels containing goods. However, SAPO noted that documents, letters, and military mail will still be accepted.
SAPO move mirrors similar actions by postal services in other countries, including Japan, Britain, and Australia, according to South African media reports.
