The size of Africa in the most common used world map is incorrect, and has been for centuries, etching an untruth in the minds of children for generations. Whether this cartographic error was by design or default, the African Union is now confronting this untruth and has thrown its weight behind the ‘Correct The Map’ campaign pushing for use of a map that depicts Africa’s true size in schools and institutions.
