Ghana to Support Cocoa Farmers Amid Market Trend, Aims Higher Demand: Media
Ghana’s previous farmgate cocoa price of 58,000 cedis ($5,300) per tonne had reduced international trader demand and left farmers without payments, a Western news outlet reported.
The new rate is now fixed at 41,392 cedis ($3,580) per metric ton through the 2025/2026 season, it added, citing Ghana’s Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.
Ghana’s cabinet instructed the cocoa regulator Cocobod to promptly repay all impacted farmers, he added.
