Six Individuals Accused of Treason in Nigeria: Media

Nigeria’s Attorney General has charged six individuals with treason in connection with an alleged attempt to seize power and plan a coup that authorities say was foiled in 2025, according to a local media report.

A 13-count indictment has been filed by the prosecutor against the alleged plotters, who are accused of planning to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. The charges were submitted to the Federal High Court in Abuja, the publication noted.

Among those allegedly involved in the attempted coup d’état are former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva, Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, Captain Erasmus Ochegobia Victor, and Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, according to the media report.

The trial is expected to begin on Wednesday.
