Yes! We can see many words resisting to Portuguese. In the state where my parents came from we have a Kongo and Angola predominance, we have different manifestations of resistance like catholic songs with African words or entirely in African languages, processions with reverence to African queens and kings, etc…
But the Bahia(state) Candomble is more deep and conservative. What i’ve seen about candomble in some other states is unacceptable to me… Too much inclusion, confusion and hippie like. But you see this ancestor Fiota she taught her children what she knew. (Previous link) -
