Space Research in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities by Obed Hugh Ligate (2015)
-
Amos N. Wilson referred to these types of “Space Programs” in neocolonial Africa as “going along for the ride.” This alluded to the fact that initially during Eurasian hegemony having a space program meant building the facilities etc. and launching oneself. He also discussed how “Science” is political and you aren’t really doing it if you don’t have say a large Hadron Collider. All in all he was pointing out the necessity say not “telling ourselves lies and claiming easy victories.” I’ll have to find where I have stored that lecture.

If you do manage to find that lecture, I’d very much appreciate it. The overall point is well taken.
