“Mi use to di hengin di chokin woan kill me”
I am used to the choking so the hanging will not kill me //
I am used to hard times and being in difficult situations; small inconveniences will not affect me.
~Jamaican ProverbThis proverb describes how I feel during this whole plandemic. I have been far more annoyed at the inability of people to handle a little pressure than to stand firm until the storm passes. Can you relate?

hey sis is this supposed to be backwards? so instead of “Mi use to di hengin di chokin woan kill me” …. Mi use to di chokin, di hengin woan kill me..?
-
Lol I believe it is! This is very similar to how we would say it in Trinidad .. I didn’t even think twice. Perhaps @taharka2018 can correct me

I go aks wifey if she nuo dis 1 ya

@makiyasmack tinkin bou ih some more, it mek sense how yu originally put ih caw wen yu use to worse a likkle less nah bodda yu
-
Yes.. in this case the hanging is the more severe alternative but from the proverb, I am sensing that the choking was done many times in their life , thus a more serious alternative/situation would not affect them as much. Our proverbs are full of wisdom

Good question. Unfortunately, I’m unsure

I can definitely relate. We Kmtyw have become so resilient to hardship, hard times, being in difficult situations and small inconveniences so much that we flow in it. The funniest part is krakkaz can’t handle an ounce of pressure and the pandemic is proof of that. They panic at the very slightest discomfort. Very weird people

Now imagine being around them everyday and seeing their nonsense. It is true , they can’t handle any pressure and yet they tell lies like “Black people are lazy”
