“Some members of the Black intellectual elite seem unable to conceive of a way of looking at human problems and the human condition except through the eyes of european-centered science- a perspective from which the key to solving African problems is to be found in learning to use science and joining in the transformation of nature. This view of the world is very dangerous. We can see some of its effects now, in terms of diseases that appear suddenly, are of unknown origin, and cannot be cured. We live with air that cannot be breathed, water that cannot be drunk. There is something about the structure of this universe that resists the kind of transformation of nature embodied in the ancient aryan project and, ultimately, dooms that kind of transformation to disaster. However attractive we may find the way europeans and their descendants have tried to shape the world, it is in our interest to make a thorough study before racing to join them in perpetuating their world order.” – Jacob H. Carruthers from the book “Too much schooling Too little education; a paradox of Black life in white societies”
