In Kiswahili, the colors nyekundu (red), nyeusi (black), nyeupe (white) are also primary. They are the only ones not in reference to any object, also the only ones beginning with prefix nye- which can be personified to mwe- in reference to people. Therefore, there can be black, red and white people.
