It’s because that’s how possession works in mdw nTr, just like numerous other languages like Yorùbá across the board, Wolof for 3rd person singular, Kikôngo and Kiswahili with noun class changing what amounts to the indirect genitive element, n.k. The noun that’s being possessed goes before the possessor in the grammar. Instead of an english type of construction like my dog, it’s dog (of) mine. Two nouns in direct apposition except in the case of the so-called Bantu languages where it’s still the same word order but in indirect apposition due to the intervening element that changes based on noun class.
