Kenkey (dokono, etc.) is one of my favourite foods.

Took me 3 days (of fermentation) and 5 hours to prepare, but it is worth it every time! For less than $20 CAD for corn meal and the banana leaves, I was able to make enough for myself, my father, mother and brother to last them a few days!

Even currently stuck living on the East Coast of Canada, I make no excuses and must make every effort to nourish my body with the food that is healthiest for me as an Afrikan. So that the ‘food’ I pass on to my anscestors is healthy and nourishes them as well. With that, the fruits that come to bare from our efforts (be it physical, emotional or spiritual energy) is healthy and strong as well. Learned so much from nana Obadele’s lectures on the foundations of Afrikan thought/spirituality.

And in truth, I just feel so much better when I’m eating Afrikan food over anything else really. 👌🏿
