        Mema wo adwo everyone,

Me and another member on abibitumi are trying to travel to the Caribbean this winter. Is St. Kitts a good place to consider? We would like to be around black folk and have a relaxing stay on the beach, and give as little monies as possible to crakkas. When I look at the airbnb’s, hotels, hostels kwk it seems everything is white owned when compared to say Jamaica, am I off or looking in the wrong direction.

If there’s a particular area where the Afrikans aren’t completely dead, that’d be a huge plus too.

Sorry for the late response. I’ve returned to the choatic land of America. To answer your question: the only black owned hotel near the beach that I know about is Bird Rock Beach Hotel which is isolated from the popular area of the beach where the locals and foreigners frequent. Unfortunately, foreigners own the majority of the hotels near the popular area of the beach and are collecting tons of money from that area being the main attraction for luxury, entertainment, and nightlife. To me, it’s a big disappointment for local politicans failing to establish local ownership of that area knowing it generates more finances than any other area or all the other areas combined on the island.

Np Gray Sun, we ended up going to Jamaica which seems to have the most black control of economy in the carribean. Treasure tours while black faced was dissapointedly white owned which I wasn’t able to confirm (strong suspetion) until arriving. Although the majority of shops and restaurants nearby were black owned it seems control of the real estate still needs some improvement. Overall I would recommend sttaying in treasure beach as oppose to Montego bat which is a complete seespool of disguisting asiactic tourist. I’ll keep bird rock beach in mind next time we visit the carribean.

On the darker side of things Accompong was an amazing visit and I’m sadly shocked this Maroon society that sucessfully defeated the British to this day (before Haiti’s revolt) isn’t spoken about more. Any black folk reading this if you go to Jamaica Accompong is a MUST VISIT.

meda woe ase, essentially me and @asha_seba are trying to reconnect with folk in the diaspora before we have the time/money to visit the continent. I’d value any advice you and your mother would have to offer.
