It is interesting that with an Akuaba, an Akan fertility doll is shaped similarly to the ankh. Why are the arms spread straight out and not above it’s head or down to the ground? There has to be something about that posture in particular that symbolizes life. We have statues with arms in various positions, but almost always with the Akuaba, its arms are spread straight out.0
