Finally got some Afrikans to fight! Was a bit rough trying to teach the little ones why and how, so I decided to cut straight to sparring. I think after being humbled they’ll respect themselves and I enough to learn next time. Any advice welcomed.
Shout out to @asha_seba for filming

Looks like you have somethings to teach. Mo!
The brother in red had a good motivation!
So are you doing an Asako classes with the brothers @sankofamaat?

The lil bro in red will appreciate hearing that (he joined). I guess you could say that, really trying to practice leadership and learn how to instill respect in young males. I think climbing Mt. kilimanjaro would be easier but one must try.

        • I think it was a good session that focused on one aspect (hands) dynamically. I was thinking about growing up, I used to always wonder why people focused on hands and often left out kicks. That said, as you work with them, every aspect should eventually be incorporated including kicks, grappling, weapons, kwk. For Abibifahodie asako, we usually go over particular movements and principles and then apply them in dynamic sparring so one can see what works and when it does/doesn’t in the context of experimentation. I was also thinking about the disparity in hand speed due to different types of gloves used. Their hands would be slower due to the weighted gloves, but it may all even out due to their youth, but then may be unevened out again because of your training. Maybe, if possible, y’all go with the same kind of gloves or switch so you also get the benefit of more mass behind your punches and they get the benefit of more speed behind theirs. Hopefully they will keep with it. I’ve had some real fighters over the years as well as those who were by no means fighters, but who had a fighting spirit. Hopefully the group can congeal with good organization around your noble goal of creating Asafo.

Appreciate the reply I will take all things you mentioned into consideration moving forward. The most challenging part now is having the boys be respectful enough to learn. Until then I couldn’t introduce kicks, clinch, kwk. I got some ideas on how to move forward from what I learned here and will keep posting progress. Jerejef
