Got home at 2:30 am from a super fun Black singles game night mixer event sponsored by the DC chapter of Straight Black Pride Movement – SBPM at Everlasting Life Vegan Restaurant. Even though it wasn’t a VEGAN singles event the location made where almost every brotha or sista I met is vegan or vegetarian which was cool. No love connections but I met 4 really cool people.

They put us with a partner. We were to introduce our selves to each other so that your partner could introduce you to the room full of participants. My partner was a brotha who’s followed my parents and come to several of my dad’s lectures. He didn’t ask me any questions or interview me so when he introduced me, he really introduced my parents and talked about how Mawiyah and Kamau Kambon exemplify revolutionary Black Love.

I was joking with a sista that maybe based on that introduction I’d be able to help my parents meet a match. She took it upon herself to interview me and then went up and reintroduced me to the crowd. She and I ended up connecting because we have so many common interests.

I met 2 other sistas who seem like great friendship potential. I also got connected with a brotha who is a vegan personal trainer. I’ve been wanting a personal trainer but haven’t been able to find one who understand health. Someone gave me his number after he left but I’m excited about the potential to get me back on a fitness path.

The event was supposed end at 1 and we didn’t leave until after 2:00 AM when the restaurant said, “You ain’t got to go home, but….” Super fun night of spades, Uno, Connect Four, Jenga, Taboo, etc. and potential new friends.
