Does anyone know if there are Universities and NGOs in Ghana or on the continent that have pledged to stop receiving grants and funding from white institutions? I believe we need to ensure that we are not holding ourselves accountable to those who have a hidden agenga and develop a method to provide the resources necessary for research and development from our own pockets.

Is anything being done at UG around this topic?

      • I’ve seen articles around Eritrea and Swaziland rejecting aid. Eritrea in general and Swaziland just rejecting Chinese money: https://www.latimes.com/world/la-fg-eritrea2oct02-story.html
        https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2018/09/03/all-africa-is-now-competing-chinese-money-except-one-country/
UG is as far in the opposite direction as you can imagine and the school and country are open to the lowest bidder. The former director of IAS has a blog dealing with critical investigations into humanitarianism in Afrika, but I don’t know how even the blog itself is funded given the rainbow coalition heading up the project:

Then my next question is how do we make sure that Afrikan people are the lowest bidder? How do we set up a system where we begin funding projects? Even if its starting with small projects and progressing forward? The Assinman Association of Columbus, Ohio; Newark, NJ; and NYC just donated about $1600 to a local clinic in Assin Nyankomasi and they have secured donationed medical supplies from hospitals all over Ohio that is currently being shipped to Ghana now. How can we continue to do something of this caliber but geared towards the academic research that will in turn aid in the development of Ghana? I’m in a position where im ready to go from discussing how we are going to take back the development of Ghana from the Chinese, US, Britain, and the elites to action that will bring the responsibility back to the hands of Afrikans. I’m willing to put such an organization together, but do you think there will be interest? People tend to disappear when it comes to reaching into their own pockets.
