Afrikan names are needed in space https://www.space.com/help-name-five-moons-of-jupiter.html in case they will seriously consider Afrikan name submissions. Current names reflect colonial astronomy and the history making for future generations? While going through asteroid names, I assumed all countries had one named after them but no Nile or Egypt even, after a dozen Edwards. Most are it seems white names, very many people I’ve never heard of, Greek/Roman words or English and also a great number of Japanese and Sanskrit names. And there are at least names of Nile Valley deities with the Western erasure of Kemet that goes with talking about them. No asteroid Kemet… No Buddha, even with the popularity of that religion. They are adding some Australian aboriginal names.

For sure. But can everyone and can islands too do this? I have this long-lasting impression that erasure happens faster than we can build in some places or in some dynamics.
