For those who do not understand the song, I will try to interprate it to english for you. So tuku’s most songs were in deep shona idioms….The song is about a mother with only one Son and the love that she has for him. She talks back to people who will be saying let him be he is old enoung now….
It begins like: (Mother) : ayiwa ba……! ( i won’t allow it)
Then it goes on to say: (chorus) Mai varamba ava, mai vara…mba…varamba mai! ( mother has forbidden it, she has utterly forbbiddwn it)
(Mother): Hunzi…i Wongosairira semombe chave chigondora chozvitungira ichi ( you say he is old enough, i should let hem be, i sholud let him fend for himself?).
( people) : Kurera rudziyi kuyemedza mwana komana (What kind of raising spoils a male child)
( people): Kumuyemedza mwanakomana, kumuyemedza boy….rudo rudziyi kuyemedza mwanakomana ( you spoil him too much, what kind of love spoils a male child)Then it goes back to saying : (People): Tongosairira semombe chave chigondora chozvitungira ( he is old enough to fend for himself)…
Then the mother comes in and say…..Kuziva ndiye ega mwana komana pakusha pano, maivaramba… ( Kuziva is the only male child that i have, so i won’ t allow it……
