Agikuyu Warriors as featured in the American Magazine “Western Field”, this photo was taken in 1902. The Agikuyu had a system of Chiefs who ruled over a community seldom spread across more than one valley. Each valley’s administration was independent of others. Aided by a council of elders, the Chief or Muthamaki, they had powers to meet out justice in cases where a crime had been committed.
