Following my comment about Amma being the Supreme deity for Dravidian groups. Specific deities are e.g. Mariamma (goddess of smallpox), or Ellamma from whom is derived Ellakannum (it’s hard to even find use of the true name of the language spoken by Dravidians before they split)
kānu [Tel.another form of కను.] v.a. To perceive, to see or enjoy. Kanna
[Tel.] adj. (Contracted from కనిన who begot). By birth, distinguished from adoption.. h/t

there’s a confusion with the word for ‘grammar’ which take over search results… I’d look to Santhali, Kui and Gondi (the https://gondisong.in/dictionary/English-To-Gondi-Dictionary site doesn’t work). [File below] has a lot of kui words. And Santali lists, not in their script https://talkingdictionary.swarthmore.edu/santali/?fields=gloss&semantic_ids=Kinship+and+People&q=*-
I don’t know what lists you use as a linguist @obadelekambon , I see online dictionaries give false etymologies, pretending even these tribe names come from Sanskrit!

I appreciate it. In the attached PDF, I don’t see Amma listed. I’m looking for something like the SIL comparative wordlist that has Amma in it.
