The use of headrests (a type of Afrikan pillow) were and are still used to support and protect the characteristically elaborate Afrikan headdresses and hairstyles as well can be used as a stool but also importantly in some cultures were and are still linked to dreaming. In ancient Kemet, one of the great secrets revealed was the science of sleep. They understood that the subconscious was the source of ones habits and not the conscience. Sleep is the time when our consciousness is put aside so that our subconscious can be programmed by the emotional images that we dwell on daily.
Our conscious ideas have very minor influence on our subconscious, the subconscious is primarily decided by emotionally charged images. This means that most people get their programming from the television and other striking images produced by our aspiring enslaver. Our dreams are simply the process of the programming of the subconscious taking place.
By not taking any measures to direct the programming instead one then allows self to indulge in all sorts of emotionally charged images usually provided by the western lens. So by purposely absorbing Afrikan affirming emotional images, one will then in effect program their subconscious with the necessary divine self image needed for success. Dreams are one of the many ways communication occurs between humans and spirits, so many Afrikans look to dreams for guidance in everyday affairs.
Direct appearances of ancestors in dreams reflect their power and wisdom. Those with ancestors of less wisdom or spiritual power receive guidance in more general symbolic dreams. There are individuals who specialise in interpreting such dreams, although they may not hold formal titles or be a priest or priestess, much information on dreams exists as part of the rich oral tradition of Afrika.

Informative article about Kemetic headrests. The ancient Kemetic people knew dreams are metaphysical doorways to another level of reality.

Yes Shade the Amduat (subconscious) as you know explains in more detail. Headrests are very sacred and a common hieroglyph denoting to “bear, carry” or to “lift up” and this hieroglyph is included and explained in their ancient texts / Pryamid Texts. But if I remember there is also a chapter from the Per(t) em Heru, a spell called I think the Chapter of the Headrest and it is compared to the horizon (akhet). But most importantly this post I wanted to show also the cultural connections/ continuity of headrests that are widepread throughout Afrika….much love for reading Shade.

Another impressive enlightenment from you Goddess Oracle. I actually thought this head rest originated from Asian, they are very common in classic Chinese movies.
