The fight of the year is tonight Adesanya vs Whittaker….
I’m rooting for Adesanya and I think he’ll win it in the championship rounds. However, Whittaker is as healthy as can be and is no slouch! I would not be shocked if Whittaker catches Adesanya slipping and TKOs him jn the third.
Also, another thing I worry for Adesanya is Whittakers wrestling ability, I have a bad feeling that Adesanya will be taken down early and often sapping his energy.

Indeed. I just looked at it due to your recommendation and there are lots of lessons from the fight with regard to Asako.

It was an incredible fight. Interestingly, while Adesanya is trained in Asian Kickboxing he moves like a Capoeirista.

A couple of thoughts from the fight:
As I posted before the match, I thought Whittaker’s best chance against Adesanya was to have a balanced mix of strikes and takedowns. With the height and reach disadvantage, Whittaker thought he could replicate Gastellum’s blueprint and close the gap and rock Adesanya. Whittaker underestimated Adesanya’s fighting IQ, and Adesanya improved upon his errors, particularly taking too many shots from Gastellum.
Again, my only knock on Adesanya is his low defensive guard. Since he’s 30 and in his fighting prime, he can see a punch and a kick from a mile away, but that’s technically not sound. Next up, he’s got a tough opponent Paulo Costa who has a ridiculous motor tank and incredible power.

Good points in Adesanya’s defence he’s mentioned that he keeps his hands down to lower his center of gravity & increase mobility…probably won’t work as well in some years down the road though but it def is effective now. Whittikar didn’t look good at all, well besides a few lead jabs
