Song called hungry by Hefla Nyah a reggae singer. I listened & wrote some parts of d song that I found interesting.

hungry nuh laugh, hungry nuh ramp. Wat a ting when u belly battam cramp. hungry nuh smile hungry nuh grin, when u caa find food is a serious ting. U tink hungry easy, hungry nuh nice, wat a calamity when white squall a bite. hungry nah wait, early or late, it nuh care bout color it nuh discriminate.

Inna d ghetto its not strange it’s common. Imagine u broke & d food rashan & u nah wok soh u doe av cash & d hungry a tek set inna u belly battam. It worst fi d yutes dem wid out a Mama/Abba, wey a sleep out a door wid out food fi nyam. But d upper class dem doe give a damn. If only 1 hand could a wash 1 hand.

When hungry grip all u tripe like shackle, u ungle escape is a miracle. Back inna d days u could a beg a backkle but now a days some ppl meen like starapple. It’s not a laughing matter it’s a crime. A it a mek d yutes dem a ball & a wine. Dung inna d ghetto d victims wey we find & a poverty & d usual suspect every time.

It made me think about Nana Amos Wilson – A so called civilized behavior is often only a thin veneer over a very savage mentality & when that veneer is chipped by economic, social, political & other kinds of disaster, the savage part of the personality will express itself & the civilized man of today becomes the murderer of tomorrow.

The causes & effects of being enslaved & colonized by eurasians will drive one to be in constant survival mode especially when there is lots of mouths to feed. When u push me away from my natural food source & starve me, then come close to me with food & bar me from it, it’s a must that I’m going to steal from u to statisy my hunger. Then u either kill me or I kill u or lock me up for stealing, then u criminalize me. Then most ppl now start viewing me as a criminal, causing them to behave savagely towards me & other ppl like me, similarly to lions & hyenas in some ways. It’s at times easy when one is well fed & somewhat privileged & comfortable to look at others not in a similar position as themselves & destructively criticize their means of survival. But if placed in a position of desperation & in great need, one wonders what would b their reaction( who feels it knows)
