“King’s shift of focus from civil rights to human rights in 1966 marked a significant turning point in his development and corresponded to his increase commitment to work on the behalf of African people and the poor in general. Yet, King’s biographers and historians continue to ignore this fact and misrepresent him as a civil rights leader, despite the undeniable evidence to the contrary. With this new focus, King searched for a just and effective method to bring about a radical distribution of economic and political power in amerikkka, and was thus committed to the total restructuring of the society for the benefit of African people and the poor. There is no doubt that this radical activism and shift of focus was the cause of his assassination, and it is certain that King would have avoided the assassin‘s bullet if he had confined his efforts to never-ended (civil rights) ‘whirlwind speech making.’”
