Ma’at Hotep, family! I just finished watching the documentary film “Concerning Violence” by the Danish
filmmaker Goran Olsson. This film is an exploration of the clash between the forces of colonialism / white supremacy and Afrikan liberation / Independence. The film utilizes historical examples of wars of independence from european colonialism in west and southern Afrika and juxtaposes these images with a spoken narrative taken from Frantz Fanon’s major work “The Wretched of The Earth”. This film shows the serene courage shown by the Afrikan freedom fighters in the face of the brutal savagery of the european colonizers. Finally, the film also exposes the role of neo-colonialism in the Afrikan struggle for complete liberation and independence.
