Was Nana Marcus Garvey a kind of a bully or dictator with his leadership skills? Also are these qualities necessary to be a progressive, strong & disciplined leader? Ideas, opinions & philosophies, do they have a shelf life?

Garvey’s leadership skills were a composite of various styles. The Garveyism model was democratic for many Brothers & Sisters got leadership positions within UNIA. Garvey’s vision led to the creation of many Black-owned cooperatives. However, Garvey was unyielding when it came to loyalty. He ranked it above experience and competence. Whenever UNIA members pointed out to him that some of the people he picked to run UNIA organizations lacked experience and competence, he saw these aforesaid members as disloyal dissenters. He would immediately kick them out of UNIA.
