            Yes. Though “home guard” has a negative connotation generally in Kenya. The word “Ngati” is used to refer to an oppressive person. It is still falsification because they should be labelled sell-out and traitors. Misperceptions have lead to misoriented action for Kenyans

              It must have a negative connotation based on experience. But just the term itself. Guarding home rather than betraying one’s home. It’s deep misconceptions built into the very terms used. Indeed, we need the word for sell-outs and traitors.

                There is a word in Kikuyu “tūkūnia”. They were referred so because the terrorists put sacks over their bodies with two holes for the eyes to point out MauMau in terror parades without being identified. They were really hated and seen as traitors
