I’m reading this today. Let’s me know why he was deported from Mobutu’s Zaire: Fu-Kiau, K. B. K. (1986). Digging Up the Past: An Approach to Fundamental Education and Community Development (Case of Zaire)(Bilingual Education, Therapy, Revolutionary Theories) (Doctoral dissertation, Union for Experimenting Colleges and Universities).

I didn’t know N’kulu Fu-Kiâu was this ganksta with his. I saw in this the details of how his commitment to our languages and building ourselves and our institutions on the basis of our worldview could certainly upset the apple cart. That’s surely a thorn in the side of those who make their living by selling apples.

I was aware of the connection, but just hadn’t read it for myself. I’ve been trying to make the most of our time out from teaching classes at the University and also at Abibitumi to get some reading done. -
